For clinical partners

The problem you've worked around for years.

Every solution this program has produced started with a clinician letting a student watch them work. Not a survey, not a focus group: fresh eyes, in the room, during the summer, noticing.

What we ask

Let a student observe

Sessions across June and July

Students shadow in the summer, before they have a solution in mind. They are there to watch how the work actually happens: the workarounds, the delays, the steps that only make sense once somebody explains the history. Fresh eyes are not yet steeped in the way it has always been done, which is what lets them still ask why.

Sit for a springboard interview

30 to 45 minutes, once

Thirty to forty-five minutes at the start of the summer. A student hears what you actually do, what frustrates you about it, and what you are watching in your specialty: the trends and technologies you think are coming, and what you are excited about.

Bring us a problem

A conversation

If something in your practice has needed fixing for years and nobody has fixed it, that is exactly what this program exists for. Students screen hundreds of problem statements each summer and take the best ones forward. They can tell you why nobody has solved it yet, and whether it is truly worth solving.

What students complete before they arrive

Credentialing is finished before the summer starts, and the program tracks every item for every student. No one observes until their site's requirements are complete.

  • Immunization record completed by a healthcare provider, including TB screening
  • Drug screen and background check
  • Site compliance training and student orientation
  • Observer confidentiality agreement and liability waiver
  • Health privacy and safety verification

What comes back

Students report what they saw, and the strongest needs become year-long projects. You are encouraged to give feedback throughout the year, and invited to the showcase each spring where the teams present what the year produced.
